Grand Rapids rock gods Deepfall are on tour with Alter Bridge and will be playing the Ogden on February 17th. Get your tickets here: https://www.ogdentheatre.com/events/detail/386930
Deepfall are the first, the inaugural, the numero uno (or numerous onto like spellcheck is telling me to put) touring band to take on the fresh, shiny and sparkling and oh so effervescent COLORADO GAUNTLET INTERVIEW SERIES!!
Tell us about your latest album that you’re supporting on the road right now? The writing, vibe, production/producers, etc.
The latest album “Broken” is a culmination of several years of writing and recording with multiple contributors. We tracked the album ourselves and sent the stems out for mix and master. After a couple trials with various mix engineers we landed on Matt Dougherty to lead the charge on production and mix for us.
What songs from that album are on your current set list? What does the rest of the set look like?
All but the final track of the album are part of our current set list. We also have our own version of “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” by Journey in our set list currently.
What towns and venues are you playing in Colorado?
Last fall we had a two night stop at the Black Sheep in Colorado Springs, and we will be at The Ogden in Denver on February 17th with Clint Lowery and Alter Bridge
Elevation and thin air are no joke especially when performing. How do you prepare for the low oxygen at high altitudes?
This time around we are trying to arrive as early as possible and get outside and get walking to try to adapt. We definitely felt the impact of the thin air during our first performances in Colorado Springs.
If you have been to Colorado before what are some of your favorite memories? If not what took you so long? HA!
All of our current memories were made during the last shows in Colorado Springs. We didn’t venture too far from The Black Sheep, but back to back sold out shows there with Hellyeah and Nonpoint made for a great introduction to Colorado’s welcoming hospitality and support for live music.
Why do you make your style of music? Why not polka? or Japanese symphonic folk metal? or..?
We don’t even label our music with a specific style. We play whatever feels right at the time.
Which band member are you positive is an extraterrestrial and what does their planet look like? Details!
Max was certainly from another world. We don’t really know what his planet looked like, however he did have to return to his home and is no longer with us.
Why should people experience your music live?
Because the people that do experience our live music say its worth seeing!
Do you have names for your instruments? If so what are they?
No named instruments currently.
Do you write on the road or is the constant movement and noise too distracting?
We are always writing no matter where we are. Noise and distraction can be turned into inspiration.
What do you geek out to besides your music? Please geek out on your geekiness.
We have a variety of geekness aboard. Cooking, Fitness, Computer nerds, photography, and engineering and sound are a select few of the many talents we geek over.
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Vodka Red Bull sing along during the power hour pre show.
Name two people cooler than Evel Kneivel. Why?
Aladdin – Riding a carpet is way cooler than a motorcycle.
Our Agent! – Jimmy Wooten keeps landing us all of the killer runs that make this all possible.
Anything else you would like to add?
We appreciate you taking the time to listen to us, and can’t wait to get back to Colorado and meet more music lovers.
