(Rules of The Gauntlet: The artist (Like in this case Minneapolis Rock trio Late Night Fights) is sent a butt ton of questions ranging from standard to stupid from which they must choose at least 12 to answer and return them to us with a minimum of tear stains.)
Tell me why your music rules. Or why it sucks.
It rules because it is for the most part loud and edgy as fuck, without being screamo or death metal. It sucks because it’s not death metal.
Tell me about your new album. The writing, vibe, production/producers, etc.
“Jousthouse” was written as the by-product of a bunch of heart-wrenching trauma, as well as intense emotion and violence that we are all engulfed by in our personal lives and surroundings. It gets compared to Alice In Chains, Thrice, and Soundgarden, and bunch of other 90’s rock, but with a modern sound. James Harley and I co-produced the record, as we’ve been making music together for years, and he’s done great things with some of my prior bands. Former tour mates of mine Arejay Hale (Halestorm) and Trevor Stafford (Adelita’s Way) rocked drums on a few tracks. Dan Korneff is a wizard and mixed it into pummeling greatness.
What are you working on right now?
We are going to Dan Korneff’s studio Sonic Debris in New York next week to record a new EP.
Top 2 stupidest things you’ve ever done.
1. I tried to kill myself to prove a point to my suicidal girlfriend that she shouldn’t kill herself (oh young love, how beautiful is thee)
2. I took a bunch of shrooms at a wedding with a bunch of friends and went joyriding through a small town in Wisconsin

Be real and true to yourself and don’t hold back. You never know what magical riffage might happen if you never try.

Who the fuck do you think you are?
Just another privileged first world asshole with a guitar.
