Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbanding of Overcast andAftershock. Killswitch Engage’s current lineup consists of vocalist Jesse Leach, bassist Mike D’Antonio, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, and drummer Justin Foley. The band has released six studio albums and one DVD. Killswitch Engage has played at many live arenas, including Wacken Open Air, Rock Am Ring, Download Festival, and the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. Their latest album, Disarm the Descentwas released on April 2, 2013.

Killswitch Engage rose to fame with its 2004 release The End of Heartache, which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200, and was certified gold by the RIAA in December 2007 for over 500,000 shipments in the United States. The title track, “The End of Heartache”, was nominated for aGrammy Award in 2005 for Best Metal Performance, and a live DVD titled (Set This) World Ablaze was released in 2005. Killswitch Engage has performed at festivals such as Wacken Open AirReading and Leeds FestivalsOzzfestDownload FestivalRock on the RangeRock Am Ring,Mayhem FestivalPointfestHeavy MTL and the Australian Soundwave Festival. The band has sold over four million records in the US and has been widely referred to as “one of the founders of metalcore” and one of the notable bands for New Wave of American Heavy Metal.[1]

Michael “Mike” D’Antonio (born May 22, 1973) is best known as the bass guitarist and founder of Massachusetts metalcore band Killswitch Engageand of the band Overcast.

D’Antonio’s metal bass style is influenced by SamhainIn Flames and Dark Tranquillity, and he cites Eerie Von of horror punk/metal band Samhain / DanzigCliff Burton of thrash metal band Metallica and Harley Flanagan of the Cro-Mags as personal influences.

D’Antonio formed the band Killswitch Engage after the demise of his band Overcast in 1998.

All of Killswitch Engage’s artwork and merchandise is designed by D’Antonio, who is a graphic artist. D’Antonio’s company, DarkicoN, designs and produces artwork for bands such as Shadows FallUnearthAll That Remains and Day of Mourning.

D’Antonio is currently the only original member of the band to keep his same spot since their inception. (Joel Stroetzel switched from lead guitar to rhythm guitar between the Alive or Just Breathing era and Adam D. was previously the bands drummer before switching to lead guitar after the release of AoJB)

D’Antonio uses his signature Ibanez basses and an Ampeg bass rig.

Mike D is also a vegetarian and strongly believes in animal rights.
