(Rules of The Gauntlet: The artist (Like in this case the Electronic Rock / Industrial Music Producer Precious Child ) is sent a butt ton of questions ranging from standard to stupid from which they must choose at least 12 to answer and return them to us with a minimum of tear stains.)
Which Muppet would you marry, which one would you wanna knife fight in a swamp, and which one should be our global emperor? Why?
Marry: those beeping aliens that just speak in onomatopoeia. They’d get annoying but they are small enough to put in a soundproof cabinet when I need a break.
Knife fight: Aloysius Sunffleupagus cus he’s big and slow and heavy and he’d get stuck quickly which means I’d have no problem slicing and dicing.
Global Emperor: Bert because the world needs a Gay emperor and also he looks like a freak which is an extra double bonus.
Why do you make your style of music? Why not polka? or Japanese symphonic folk metal? or..?
I can’t do anything in life that isn’t real, not personally true. I keep an empty mind when I begin writing but in general I know how I want to feel when I hear or play or sing my music. That’s what I aim for. The feeling and the vibe.
Which voice in your head is the craziest?
Sorry, I don’t think with words…
How often do you work on your music?
Every day. I continually strive to be a better artist. There are many ways to go about that. Sometimes it’s technical practice, sometimes it’s experiencing other people’s visual art. Sometimes it’s reading. Sometimes it’s just thinking and dreaming. Sometimes it’s looking at all the colors and patterns in the grocery store.
What’s the stupidest thing you have ever heard someone say?
This is hard. But a dumb one I heard recently was about how CBD kills cancer. Quote: “The CBD oil encircles the cancer cells and smothers them. Without air cancer can’t reproduce”.
Peace or freedom? (You can’t have both.)Why?
Freedom is more important than peace as without freedom one can’t experience the full breadth of life or more importantly freedom to experience their own internal aspects. Peace also implies that there is a lack of conflict and conflict is essential for change and growth and evolution.
How long could you live without money?
Money only matters when you need it but do not have it. Perhaps if I was a subsistence farmer in a temperate region I could live forever. Here in LA, probably about a day before the LAPD homeless task force scoops me up and carts me off to the moneyless-homeless incinerator.
What legendary musicians would you like to play badminton with?
Francis Scott Key because I think his song is largely responsible for the United State’s perpetual war. I’d do my best to repeatedly hit each of his testicles with a birdie smash. Sousa because he’s the reason why horribly intonated middle school brass bands continue to exist. I’d want him to be on my team so I could cruelly berate him for missing the opposing team’s drop shots. Miley Cyrus because I think we’d actually have fun playing against each other.
What was the last song you listened to before this interview?
Hol Baumann, “Breathe”
When was the last time you figuratively put your foot in your mouth? (or literal if you can do so.) Details please.
I’m a BJJ practitioner and yes there have been a few times when my opponent literally smooshed my foot into my own mouth.
What’s the most embarrassing band you listen to?
Shit I’m not embarrassed about anything I listen to but I think that my friends are sometimes embarrassed by my choices. Such is the cost of being my friend. Oh I know, Brokencyde. I dig a lot of their tracks. Also as previously suggested, I’m on Team Miley.
Any tours planned?
Not for 2016.
If you were facing unbeatable and fatal odds what song would you want to check out to? Why?
Amon Amarth– “Where Silent Gods Stand Guard”. All of their music is great war music and that song in particular is extra ass kicking. With unbeatable odds there is still a chance to win and I’d make sure I’d kick enough ass to end up winning.
Describe your face.
I view my skin tone as green and my face to kinda be like a blondie baked confection.
What musicians should quit forever and never be seen or heard from again?
I think that music is for everybody. People can and should express themselves artistically. What’s bad art? I have my own opinions but that is for the artist to decide. Music can also be played just for fun. I know several hobbyist musicians and they’re happy with that. Other musicians do not need my judgement. In contrast, I support them.
Would you accept 1 million dollars now to give up any and all music forever? If not what is your price?
No thank you. Music is special. It has the power to affect individuals and societies at an extremely personal level. To put a dollar value on music, I ask what is the dollar value of a song that means something to you? Could that value be replaced with a gift of that dollar amount? I think that music and its impact is priceless and can’t be traded for cash.
I know that the sole value that I have in the world is my music and so my price to give it up is my life.
Who the fuck do you think you are?
The same as you. Just a carbon bag full of water, the same juice that’s in the stars.
What is the loneliest letter?
Zero because it’s not a letter or a number.
Without looking which presidents are on which bills?
Harriett Tubman on the twenty dollar bill is about the only person that matters to me right now. I’m not a feminist or a Black Lives Matter activist, but it’s about time that there’s some government sponsored recognition of women and black people on our currency. Yes we have Hellen Keller, Sacagawea, and Susan B. Anthony, but this is a bill and one of the most used bills. Harriett Tubman was an inspiring freedom fighter, liberator, and activist. Very American. Excellent. Beautiful.
Worst thing ever eaten?
What do you geek out to besides your music? Please geek out on your geekiness.
I love playing D&D – that pencil and paper game with dice. The storytelling and imagination and role playing is so much fun. But I have not had a group in years and also do not have time for one.
