************************************************************************************************

The-gauntlet2-RecoveredSister Sin is one of our new favorite bands around the Groovey TV offices and we are stoked to have them be apart of The Gauntlet.  Sister Sin is a female-fronted “old-school metal” band from Gothenburg, Sweden that write and play the kind of metal that we want to hear.  Their latest CD Now and Forever  is out on Victory Records and a remastered version of their amazing Dance Of The Wicked  is due out on June 25th. Here are Sister Sin’s vocalist Liv Jagrell answers to Groovey.TV’s The Gauntlet Interview Series.

1) Tell me why your band rules? or why it sucks?

Sister Sin rules because we bring the best of metal with raw power and a high level of energy. If you see us live you will not be disappointed!

2) Describe your sound.

“We play classic heavy metal with influences from the best of the 80´s. Our inspiration comes from bands such as W.A.S.P, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Twisted Sister, Accept and more.”

3) What are you working on right now?

“Right now we are playing live as much as possible. We have a bunch of cool festivals in front of us this summer. We will start working on a new album later this year.”

4) Why do you play your style of music? Why not polka? or classical? or..?

“Because we love heavy metal. We all grew up on this kind of music so it felt natural for us to play this kind of music.”

5) How often do you guys practice and why?

“When we play gigs as much as we do now we don’t rehearse that often. But when we do it is to either rehearse a new set list, work on new songs or to shape up some small details.”

6) What’s the bands philosophy? Motto?

“To have fun and do what we love and give our fans what they want”

7) What bands would you like to go on tour with?

We would love to tour with Motörhead or Accept for example. It would be great and we would fit in perfectly”

8) Why should people go to your shows?

“Because we are a band with a high level of energy and stage performance. We always give 110% live.”

9) Stella or Guinness? Why?

“Stella, because it´s easier to drink more of them than Guinness”

10) Where did your band name come from?

“The name comes from a song of a Swedish band called Machine Gun Kelly”

11) Would you accept 1 million dollars now to give up any and all music forever? If not what is your price?

“I would never do that. There is no price for me quitting music forever. I love playing music and can´t imagine a life without it.”

12) Worst thing ever eaten on the road?

“Eating pizza for two weeks straight. That is apparently what an opening band is worth according to some morons.”

13) What are your detailed thoughts on yodeling?

“It sounds horrible and I can´t understand how anyone would feel an urge to yodel.”

Sister Sin Biography

Sister Sin(From http://www.victoryrecords.com/sistersinSince 2002, SISTER SIN has worked hard to earn their position at the top of the metal scene and with a third album release on the way, they are clearly here to stay. The blueprints for Sweden’s dirty metal cartel SISTER SIN were traced nearly ten years ago. Former bassist, Chris Martensson and current drummer Dave Sunderberg became fast friends, recognizing their mutual interest in 80’s metal and their yearning to play the music unconventional to their home country. The pair quickly formed a band of their own in hopes to assault all ears around the world.

The search for the perfect front man began and they soon discovered vocalist Liv Jagrell. Although a female part wasn’t their original idea, they decided to give her a shot and Dave explains, “It turned out she could sing better and had more balls than any of the other guys who tried out for the gig.” With Liv on board, there was only one link missing: a guitarist.

Without hesitation, Dave phoned an old high school friend, Jimmy Hitula, who was known as the “best extreme metal guitar player around.” With Jimmy’s acceptance, everything was finally in place. The group finally began to craft their sound by fusing raw punk-rock energy with the power of classic metal. With their unique sound and line-up solidified, SISTER SIN gained widespread success in Europe and soon reached out to US based label Victory Records. The foursome signed to the label in 2008 and has since been able to successfully deliver their powerful sound to the US.

Four years and two Victory releases later, SISTER SIN has announced their highly anticipated third full -length album, Now and Forever, set to be released on October 22, 2012. Along with the most recent addition of bassist Strandh, the furious bunch is on a mission to continue to deliver rock through their capitvating vocals, electrifying guitar riffs and an overall hard-hitting metallic forcer.

SISTER SIN has completed several full tours throughout the United States and European regions. Amongst the many stages played, SITER SIN has been able to share the spotlight with monumental acts such as MOTORHEAD, ALICE COOPER, DOOR, ILL INO, OTEP and more. With a fully packed schedule to accompany the release of Now and Forever, SISTER SIN plans to continue to tour throughout Sweden this summer, followed by a yet another full US tour this winter.

This band is not into retro, retread hype; this is a serious testament to the raucous spirit of true 80’s heavy metal and Rock ‘n’ Roll. If you’re into rebellious, unapologetic, intense music then you’re sure to become a fan of SISTER SIN and check out their new third full-length album, Now and Forever. This may quite possibly be the REAL metal album of 2012.

“We want to make you all bang your head, spit your beer and leave the gig with a big smile and a good wry neck!” – Liv.
